Audio Books
I first fell in love with audiobooks when I was working with Noah Michael Levine, who narrated The Gods’ Dream Trilogy. The way he brought Sower of Dreams to life made me teary and gave me goosebumps. What a wonderful experience!
If you’re an audiobook fan, I don’t have to convince you of the benefits of listening to a book. I’m an avid reader, and I’ve found audiobooks are great for listening in the car, while I work out, and while doing chores around the house and yard. Listening to a story makes what usually is tedious time fly by. If I’m home, I tuck my device into my waistband, which leaves my hands free. I’ve been known to buy an ebook as well as the Whispersinc audiobook version and switch between listen and reading.
I’ve had readers who are disabled or who have serious illnesses tell me how listening to audiobooks helps them cope. Non-native English speakers tell me they simultaneously listen to audiobooks and read the print or ebook to improve their grasp of the language. Parents tell me that children’s audiobooks keeps their kids occupied on car rides. Or families on a long drive can listen to a book everyone will enjoy.
