Growing up in a crowded orphanage, all plain, shy Hester Smith wanted was her own little house with a garden. But she didn’t know it would take a tragedy to fulfill her dream.

Sensitive, reserved Dale Marsden escaped his family, especially his overbearing mother and sisters, to live far away in Sweetwater Springs. He’s content with his garden, plant propagation, and horticulture books, until a woman moves in next door. Somehow, Hester Smith’s quiet presence upends his peaceful life.

Although, next-door neighbors with their love of gardening in common, Hester and Dale are too timid to form a friendship. But the approach of Christmas and some Sweetwater Springs magic might just bring these two recluses together.
